Mod Hermy of the Pride-Flags Deviantart here: I just found out during my hiatus from this blog that there’s been a lot of discourse surrounding this flag that I helped make.
APPARENTLY some truscum/transmed took this flag and reuploaded it (that got 8.2k notes vs the 9 notes my original post has), wording it in a way that made people ponder it was made by them (and also "official"). Also, it seems prefer it's been co-opted by truscum and transphobes to exclude trans and nonbinary gay men.
I am beyond pissed off at this, especially since I don’t remember anyone telling me it was stolen.

Inever want any of my flags being used to exclude part of the LGBTQAI+/MOGAI community. I You might be familiar with the six-colored rainbow flag that is widely used to represent the Gay community. But did you know that this is a relatively new rendition of the original? The authentic flag (shown here) was designed by activist, veteran, drag queen, and creator, Gilbert Baker, and made its debut at the San Francisco Gay and Lesbian Freedom Day March in 1978. He was inspired by the Rolling Stones song She’s a Rainbow, and the 1960s hippies movement, assigning each color with a specific meaning: Pink: Sex (later removed) Red: Life Orange: Healing Yellow: Sunlight Green: Nature Turquoise: Magic (later removed) Indigo: Serenity Violet: Spirit The evolution to the six-colored flag used today happened out of practicality. After the parade in 1978, demand for the Celebration Flag increased, but the hot pink fabric was difficult to find in large quantities. Then, the Paramount Flag Company started making a version out of the standard rainbow colors to help encounter demand, and a seven-color pride flag was the new norm. A year later, the flag evolved once more… Flags are often used as symbols of celebration. It is no surprise then that numerous celebration flags have been created to represent the sexual and gender diversity of 2SLGBTQIA+ communities. Explore all the different flags and their meanings.
