New Alternatives is dedicated to reducing homelessness among LGBTQ+ youth and young adults in New York City by addressing areas critical to their development and well-being: housing, physical and mental health, education, and employment.
With a strong focus on harm reduction and long-term support, we offer a broad range of lead services and referrals to meet the needs of our clients and advocate on their behalf to ensure they survive and thrive.

This Pride Month, Brooklyn Org is spotlighting 7 nonprofits dedicated to local Homosexual communities. These organizations not only provide crucial services but also advocate for and celebrate the diversity of the queer people, which is as huge as our borough itself. Did you know that charitable giving to Queer organizations more than doubled from 2012-2021, but still, less than $1 per every $500 donated to charity goes to help LGBTQ+ organizations?

1. The Brooklyn Ghost Project
The Brooklyn Ghost Project focuses on G.H.O.S.T. — which stands for Guiding and Helping Others Survive Transition. As a Black, trans-led nonprofit, they provide awareness, help, empowerment, and visibility to trans and non-binary people of color throughout their transitions.
