Mature gay bars near me

Berlin has earned its stripes as one of the great gay capitals of the world, with a huge LGBTQ+ community, one-of-a-kind queer bars and an attitude to life that encourages inhabitants to be whoever they please. Over time, this has lent itself to a ton of fantastic club nights, bars and saunas, and new venues are popping up all the time.

Berlin is a city that is always moving forward, often at a lightning pace. Things move so quickly, it can be hard to keep up with. But we’ve got you covered. Our Berlin writer Nathan Ma knows this city like the back of his hand, and has handpicked the best LGBTQ+ spots all over the city for cocktails, dancing and a lot of queer pleasure. Here’s our picks of the best.

Gay Istanbul

Who said one of the world's most storied cosmopolitan crossroads can't also sustain a vibrant contemporary LGBTQ culture? While common affection remains taboo in conservative corners, Istanbul revels in dynamic gay nightlife if you know where to look.

Make your way to the central Beyoğlu district, the longtime pulse of Istanbul's gay scene. Off rainbow-hued İstiklal Avenue’s bustling thoroughfare lie concealed havens, from cozy taverns to jumping clubs, lining narrow side streets that have catered to the LGBTQ community for decades. Nearby neighborhoods like trendy Cihangir and artsy Karaköy also mix gay-friendly cafés and lounges into their eclectic landscapes.

Follow the subtle rainbow flags to locate venues ranging from cheeky drag bars to posh lounges. But Istanbul’s LGBTQ culture shines brightest when strangers become friends over thumping Turkish pop songs on illuminated dance floors, forgetting their worries as the Bosphorus breeze rolls in.

Like most Italian cities, the Rome gay scene is petite; particularly since there are not many homosexual bars in Rome. When I first came here in 2017, there were just the two staple bars on the homosexual street next to the Colosseum: Coming Out and My Bar.

But in recent years, the gay Rome bars have started to take off in popularity, and they are not all centered around the Colosseum (although close enough to the city center).

On top of it, unlike in other European countries, Rome's gay bars often double as trattorias or place to get an aperitivo, but that is quintessential Italians for you, who are serious about combining alcohol intake with long, leisurely dinners 🤌.

The best advice is to come early for dinner or aperitivo and quit late to head to some of Rome's lgbtq+ clubs or gay parties.

So let's explore the everlasting city's best gay bars!

As this article focuses mainly on Rome gay bars, check out our Same-sex attracted Guide to Rome, end with other clubs and parites you should leave in the Eternal City.

Gay Bars & Clubs in le Marais

Gay bars in Le Marais are part of the fun, they all have a other style, always busy, some of them disappeared in the past 5 years due to the incredidible rise of real estate prices in the Marais. They are often replaced by chic boutiques that makes a strange mixity. Still the Marais keeps its soul and we, at PARISMARAIS support the global diversity of the area. After the covid crisis, more bars hold closed down, but many are resisting, some trying to seduce a novel clientele.

Size matters - and timetable matters too! People don't go to the same places at the same time, so be sure to follow our recommendations for the right time  to go out.
