Brothers Osborne's T.J. Osborne comes out as gay
T.J. Osborne, one half of sibling duo Brothers Osborne, discussed being gay for the first time in public.
"There are times when I think I've marginalized this part of me so that I feel surpass about it...and I recognize that it is a big part of who I am: The way I think, the way I act, the way I perform," he explained in a new interview with TIME. "God, ponder about all the times that we talk about love, and write about love. It's the biggest thing we ever obtain to feel. And I've kept the veil on."
Osborne's coming out marks a historic moment for the genre, as he is now the first openly gay artist to be signed to a major country label.
"You know that thing -- stand for something, or you'll tumble for anything? That sounds like something someone in country music would utter . But if you endure for something and it's not what they rise for, then they loathing it," the singer, 36, added.
Osbourne took to Instagram to share a video in which he explained why it was crucial for him to relate his story.

He and his brother John perform as the Brothers Osborne and won vocal duo of the year at the 2021 State Music Association Awards.
It was their fourth time taking home that trophy.
T.J. Osborne, who publicly shared for the first time in February that he is gay, kissed his lover Abi Ventura after the win was announced whle his brother kissed his wife, Lucie Silvas.
"I announce you, every time we have won this award, it has never, ever ceased to be extremely shocking," T.J. Osborne said.
Chris Stapleton was the large winner with six trophies and Luke Combs won the biggest prize with entertainer of the year.
He then thanked everyone, including the voters.
"It's been a crazy roller coaster of a year for us in so many ways, especially for me emotionally," Osborne said. "And to have you all sustain me, it really does feel like love wins tonight. Thank you."

Country music star T.J. Osborne revealed in a Second magazine interview on Wednesday that he is gay.
The 36-year-old vocalist for Brothers Osborne, a duo he started with his brother, John, said he is "very comfortable being gay," adding, however: "I discover myself being guarded for not wanting to chat about something that I personally don't have a problem with. That feels so strange."
He worried that his coming out would seem opportunistic or attention-seeking, according to Time. "People will ask, 'Why does this even need to be talked about?' and personally, I agree with that," he said. "But for me to exhibit up at an awards show with a male would be jaw-dropping to people. It wouldn't be like, 'Oh, cool!"
Someone in his career might perceive reservations about publicly coming out because country harmony is often associated with conservatism. One of Brothers Osborne's first big hits was their 2016 single "21 Summer."
It was based on a real-life breakup that singer T.J. Osborne experienced, but he couldn't speak about the personal story behind the song: He hadn't yet come out as gay.
"No one knew that I was in a relationship and no one knew that I just got broke up with," he recently reflected in an interview with ABC Audio. "And I had a lot of inner turmoil and I was bitter that I couldn't talk to anyone."
But in February 2021, Osborne finally shared his story. He came out in an expansive Time magazine feature, becoming the first openly gay country designer signed to a major label.
