National Coming Out Night

Be proud of who you are and your support for LGBTQ+ equality this National Coming Out Day!

Sharing our authentic selves with others is not always safe or simple, and it is not a one-day event — but when possible, it can be an extraordinarily powerful key to breaking down the barriers we face as LGBTQ+ people.

We are still coming together, celebrating ourselves, and advocating for our rights. It is more important than ever that we present up to send a clear message against the threats to equality: We are not going anywhere.

Race, ethnicity, language, religion, tradition, gender expression, sexual orientation and gender identity should never be barriers to us living our complete lives. Coming out or inviting someone in is a personal choice and is often a significant part of reclaiming this right and living in our identity publicly. We all deserve the right to live our lives genuinely, completely and honestly.

Visit our Coming Out Resources Center and examine out our resources for living openly at residence, at work, and in your community.

LGBTQ Community Calendar

There are a number of days and months observed, celebrated, and honored by the LGBTQ community. Media coverage of these and other non-LGBTQ focused moments should involve LGBTQ people and the intersections of LGBTQ people and the respective topic.

Note: Traveling as an LGBTQ+ person always carries a certain degree of risk. It is our reality as we navigate a society with 60+ countries criminalizing our relationships and a rise in anti-LGBTQ+ legislation around the world. We encourage our traveling collective to understand the laws and cultural challenges they may face in any destination they choose to check in for Pride and beyond. Don't be afraid of the world, but always research information specific to your travels. Enjoy Pride, be vigilant, and look out for each other!

The LGBTQ+ rights movement has made tremendous strides over the past limited decades and much of the progress in noticeability is thanks in part to gay pride parades and marches that contain taken place in cities around the world.

The global landscape for LGBTQ+ rights, protections and acceptance varies tremendously by location, with some destinations attracting millions of visitors to their events like Madrid Queer Pride, Sao Paulo Lgbtq+ Pride or San Francisco Gay Pride, while more than 70 other countries have laws that grant discrimination or persecution of LGBTQ+ people.
