AMYGOODMAN: Today we spend the rest of the hour with the woman who described herself as a “fierce working-class domestic goddess.” She’s the award-winning actor, one of the country’s best-known comedians, Roseanne Barr.
In the delayed '80s and early ’90s, she starred in the popular and groundbreaking exhibit on television titled simply Roseanne, the first TV series to openly advocate for gay rights. Roseanne featured the first woman-loving woman kiss on TV in an episode when Roseanne kisses Mariel Hemingway. That's right, the actress and granddaughter of Ernest Hemingway. Roseanne was also the first sitcom to ever feature a gay marriage.
The series tackled other controversial topics, as well: poverty, class, abortion, feminism. From her open support of unions in earlier shows to her tribute to Native Americans toward the end of the series, Roseanne never shied away from contentious issues.

Roseanne Barr announces she's gay in bizarre YouTube video
Embattled actor and comedian Roseanne Barr has claimed to be queer in a bizarre clip shared online.
According to People.com, in a since-deleted YouTube video Barr appeared to conflate creature queer with being a social misfit, self-identifying with the term and criticising LGBTIQ+ people for using anti-gay slurs within the community.
“Man, the word ‘f*g’ is a really hateful word, isn’t it?" She stated at the initiate of the video.
"Especially when it’s when it’s appreciate one gay calling another gay guy that? Include you ever been in the middle of one of them hate marriages? It’s like, wait a minute, we’re not supposed to say that pos. How come you’re saying that word? What?"
She continued: “Oh, I just can’t say that word. Skillfully, I can when I’m in the house, but I can’t say it outside the house. Okay, I get your rules. But it is a hateful word and we should get rid of it. Get rid of it being spoken.

Roseanne Barr is at it again.
The comedian, who in the last month has blamed both Michelle Obama and former co-star Sara Gilbert for getting her fired from her hit sitcom reboot last May, marked Easter with a pair of bizarre, disjointed, NSFW video rants on her YouTube channel.
Barr actually posted 10 videos Sunday – many of them about farming on her property in Hawaii – but in the two clips that are getting attention, she talks about who can and can't use homophobic slurs and when it becomes hate speech.
In the first clip, she argues that the slur in question is a "hateful word," especially "when it's one gay calling another gay guy that."
But if no one is supposed to use that pos, she asks, why are gays using it themselves? And if they're going to use it, why can't she?
"Oh, I just can't say the word!" she said, answering her possess question. "Well, I can while I'm in the house but I can't say it outside the house."
Addressing the gay collective, Barr says, "OK, I get your rules. But it is a hateful word and you should get rid of it."
